contribution to the 1920s
Louis Armstrong had made a huge contribution to the 1920s. He had introduced a new type of music to the world: jazz. In the 1920s, he had earned the nickname “King” Oliver. He had made his first recording on April 5th at the Gennett Studios in Richmond, Indiana. He was part of King Oliver’s Creole Jazz Band. On November 12th, 1925, Louis Armstrong makes his first recording as a leader of his own band which is called Louis Armstrong and His Hot Five. On June 28, 1928, Armstrong had recorded “West End Blue” which is one of the most well-known recordings in the age of early jazz. In 1929, Armstrong records “Ain’t Misbehavin’” and “I Can’t Give You Anything but Love”. The 1920s was a great time for Louis Armstrong and it was during the 1920s when he was creating a name for himself. Armstrong had given people living in the Roaring Twenties some good music to listen to and had shaped jazz into what is it today.
